Many people fear Emu due to the large size, and territorial nature, but as the following pictures show, these are the gentle ratites and can be raised to be well tempered and adjusted to children as well as any other farm animals. Our Emu are the protectors of our miniature horses as they do not allow strange animals on the farm without proper introductions. :-)

Some of our Emu checking out the snow that's fallen over the last day. Luna, Dusk, Thorn, Fred, Shaggy, Daphne, and of course, Scooby. Earlene decided to stay warm in the barn and just watch the younger ones checking everything out.

Our emu are very curious animals. As you can see, you cannot have a camera near them without having it thoroughly checked out and approved by them. Scooby, left, is always the first to arrive and check everything out.

Our emu chicks hatching last year. See how curious they are from the start!
Even at birth, the emu has very sharp and powerful feet!
